Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is located in Southeast Asia. It shares borders with Bangladesh, India, China, Laos, and Thailand. The country has a population of over 54 million and the official language is Burmese. Naypyidaw is the capital city, while Yangon is the largest city. Myanmar is known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse ethnic groups. It gained independence from British rule in 1948 and has experienced political instability including military rule and civil unrest.
